Q. How do I know if I have some sort of hip disease?
A. The biggest "red flag" to hip disease is the occurrence of pain when weight is applied to the joint. It may be painful to walk or move the hip joint normaly. Range of motion in the hip may be reduced, and the joint might feel "stiff" Bone spurs may develop, restricting the hips range of motion and leading to more pain. These conditions worsen over time.
Diagnosing hip disease is done through the use of x-ray, MRI, and blood tests, along with other methods. X-rays are able to show the doctor how much and how extensively your hip is degenerating. MRI's are able to show whether avascular necrosis is affecting your hip joint.
